Durability

In the last 15 years, we have always searched for the most durable materials to use in our products.

We will continue to do so in the future. Our ‘plastic’ pegs are made from fibreglass-reinforced polyamide, and our Hardcore pegs are made from aluminium.

Our products come with UV protection and can last several years in the sun. The material of our ‘plastic’ pegs is water-based, and to make them last even longer; we recommend laying them into a bucket of water after detaching your camp gear now and then. This ensures the material to stay flexible and enhances their durability.

Warranty

All Peggy purchases come with a 100% money-back guarantee and a 1-year warranty but please always contact us in case of a problem. We are in constant development and improvement. So, if you reach out to us, we can also determine what happened and prevent it from happening again.

Different types of awning legs

The difference is not so much in the material, but in the way, they are used.

The Big foot is basically a simplified version of our anchor plate and has been designed for the larger style awning feet. In that case, it is variable than the Peggy Peg Anchor plate; however, the Peggy Peg anchor plate comes with its own advantages!

The lightweight Fix & Go anchor plate makes sure that your awning foot doesn’t sink into the ground in heavy rain and heavy wind condition; it won’t be able to lift. And of course, in the most extreme cases (e.g. when a heavy storm is approaching), it’s possible to quickly detach the awning foot without having to screw out the pegs first!

The most common awning producers: Fiamma, Thule & Omnistor will most likely fit into our Fix&Go Anchor plate. Unfortunately, there are some exceptions. So if you are unsure, please contact us via; info@peggypeg.com.au and we will answer asap.

Questions about our AntiFlap

To use and attach the Anti-flap, you will need to acquire the extra rafter poles from your awning producer. Your awning already comes with one of the poles to support the middle of the awning cloth.

In this case, we developed the product to be compatible with our Tie-Strap, which you can slide into the railing of the Anti-flap when the lever is opened. When the lever is closed, the T-connector will be secured and is prevented from moving out of the rail.

Questions about our Peg&Stop

Our Peg&Stop is made from reinforced fibre-glass. The peg is developed to work in combination with our Fix&Go Anchor Plate 2.0. It has a locknut and works with height-adjustability as well. It is screwed in with an electric drill or by hand until the peg grips securely (Remember: They do not have to go all the way).

Simply fix the Peg&Stop with the locknut, these apply counter pressure and fix the plate to the ground when turning the nut a couple of rotations to the right (do not use the pegs without their locknuts!)

Questions about our Hardcore line

No, our Hardcore Pegs are exclusively designed for extreme hard & dry grounds.
Please be advised that you might have to replace them with the (N)ormal plastic peg when the ground was flooded by heavy rain.
Therefore, when you attached your gear with them when the ground was in dry conditions and is later on loosening up you might realize that the Hardcore won’t grip and hold as good anymore. So please make sure to check them after heavy rain.

Yes, the Fix & Go Plate has been designed to work with the standard screw in tent peg (PP02) as well as the hammer in screw out Hardcore pegs (HP61) plus, 2 large pegs (PP12) can be used by simply slipping the peg into the cut-out holes in the plate, and drilling into the ground.

Questions about our available sets

This is a question we always get asked on fairs or in our emails. To answer this, it is vital for us to first know what camping gear you want to secure. Do you have an awning, a caravan (awning) tent or one or multiple tents?

Our sets come in two different colors:

🔵 The blue bag is our StarterKit. 🟠The orange bag is our Fix&Go Peg&Stop awning Set.

In case you want to secure a caravan (awning) tent or a big tent, we recommend you to buy our StarterKit.
Why?
Because you will have many eyelets, ropes and strips which need to be secured. In our StarterKit you will find a big selection of N and S Peggy Peg screw-in pegs for this. To be precise; 30x (N)ormal standard screw-in pegs with the blue hooks, with which you can use height-adjustability. And you will find 20x S(mall) screw-in pegs for the tiny eyelets from a tent or caravan awning. The package comes with our combination tool made from aluminium which allows you to screw in the pegs manually or with an electric drill by using the adapter. Additionally, two pre-drillers (6 & 10mm) come in handy when the ground is extremely hard. You can use these to predrill a hole and afterwards set the screw-in peg and secure your gear. What makes it so special? You have a massive selection of Peggy N’s which cover 90% of all soil types & it only weighs 1,4kg!

However, if you want to secure an awning, you need a completely different set of screw-in pegs and extra equipment.
Why?
Because you will have to fix your two awning legs for every weather condition! For this, we offer our Fix&Go Set, which contains two of our Fix&Go Anchor Plates 2.0 and a selection of Peggy Pegs. The set includes 6x Peg&Stop with lock nuts, 4x Hardcore Hit-in Screw-out pegs for extreme hard grounds and 2x (L)ong pegs with the hooks for sandy grounds. Using the two Storm hooks, you can also easily use the anchor plate for storm protection when attaching your storm straps. This set also comes with our combination tool made from aluminum which allows you to screw in the pegs manually or with an electric drill by using the adapter. What makes it so special? It only weighs 1/5 (1,2kg) of what a common tent peg set weighs and you are having a price advantage!

Height adjustability with our hooks

Use this section for any descriptive text you need to fill out your pages or to add introductory headings between other blocks.

Did you ever wonder what the rings around the socket of our Peggy Pegs are there for? The rings are not only a design feature but actually fulfill an important & practical purpose!

Our pegs do NOT need to be screwed in all the way due to the height adjustability. As soon as you feel the peg gripping you can stop screwing it further into the ground.

Yes, it might stick out a bit.

No, it does not have to go all the way in.

Yes, it is meant this way.

Driving them all the way in will not give you a better grip. But we know from many customers that when using common pegs for several years, you most likely will feel that they would have to go all the way in the ground because otherwise, they will not secure your camping gear appropriately!

However, our pegs have a compressing thread which means that as soon as they are screwed, they will find their way through the soil and winds around little rocks due to its flexibility. When it stops to drive forward and grips, you can trust our pegs to work.

Hence, depending on the density of the soil, it will either go in further or stick out, creating different heights. The socket then allows you to distribute the force coming from an attached rope by simply moving our blue clips as close to the ground as you can and snapping them into position.

Once in position, you are all set to enjoy your holiday and camp on!

Yes you can, but what I do on my camper trailer awning, is to put the spring at the top of the guy rope, sitting over the top of the pole, and then the loop in the end of the guy rope slips easily and securely over the blue rope clip. If you are unable to do this, it would be best to make a small rope loop through the spring, which can be attached to the blue rope clip. Using rope on the clip will be less stressful in extreme conditions, and will spread the load better than having the spring directly onto the clip.

Our Pet line

First of all, the spring has to be screwed in onto the peg, so through the spring's eyelet. Please never attach the spring's hook to the ring on top of the product!
When doing this, you don't distribute the pulling force onto the whole peg but rather onto the socket and risk snapping the PetPeg!

The peg only needs to go in as far as it will go; forcing it all the way will not improve the maximum hold of it.

The goal is to have the spring as close to the ground as possible (leverage will then be set to zero) as it assures that the pulling force of your / a dog is distributed evenly onto the peg.
This is the same principle as with our blue hooks, and height-adjustability system which is explained at: "How to use the hooks in combination with our Peggy’s?" - section below.

Questions about our Pegs

No!
As long as the thread of the peg is screwed in and underground the pegs are working.
If this is the case, move the blue rope clip as close to the ground as you can and snap it into position.
All of our pegs come with a maximum torque spec, going over this torque spec won’t give any more grip or holding power.
Some rather have the pegs all the way in the ground for esthetic purposes or simply because they are used to do it this way with regular pegs.
But using our products as we describe will most definitely give you the best results and especially when using our height adjustable hooks

All Peggy Pegs are 17mm hex head. This includes the PP05 Small Peg, PP02 Standard Peg, PP12 Large Plastic Peg, PP13 Large Aluminium Peg, HP61 Hardcore Pegs (hammer in screw out).

Yes! Any tool with a 17mm hex head can be used to screw the pegs in and out. Some caravan stabiliser legs use a 17mm hex head, but some definitely don’t, you need to check your setup. We DO NOT recommend the use of ‘rattle guns’ or impact drivers, as, to the best of our knowledge, you cannot adjust/reduce the torque settings.

Mechanics often use an impact driver to loosen larger screws (bolts) and nuts that are corrosively "frozen" or over-torqued. The direction can also be reversed for situations where screws have to be tightened with torque greater than a screwdriver can reasonably provide.
Do we advise using an impact screwdriver when using our pegs?
NO!
We get the usage of an impact driver; they are excellent when working with wood or where you can overtighten the screw and leave them in for single use of the screw.

However, when developing our pegs, we really wanted to make sure that they were lightweight and held better than regular pegs/screws. We discovered that the thread of the peg is more critical for providing grip, and holding the peg in the ground, than the maximum torque spec, which is used to tighten and drive them in. Therefore, we recommend not to exceed the torque spec of our pegs.
Each comes with a maximum which is displayed on their package as well. Using too much force (torque), you risk snapping the peg.
N = 25Nm
L = 30Nm
LA = 70Nm
HC = 70Nm
S = 5Nm
With an impact driller, you always have to screw the peg all the way in! Yet, our system comes with a height-adjustable system allowing you to use our pegs in a broader variety of soils since they don't have to be screwed all the way in. In this case, a peg would simply not go further (e.g. because of large stones underneath the surface); simply click the hook to the lowest point and you are done! (for a detailed explanation, see: Do I have to screw the peg all the way in? & How to use the hooks in combination with our Peggy's? above)

The difference between the Plastic and Aluminium is the flexibility.
The head of the Large Plastic Peg will twist when too much torque is applied indicating that it is probably in far enough, and ready to do its job.
The flexibility is also good for windy and wet conditions as the slight flexing works like a spring and eases backwards and forwards rather than rattling the peg and loosening it.
The Large Aluminium Peg will go into more compact ground types, a lot more torque can be applied to it, to drive it all the way home. The drill will give up before the peg breaks (that said, we have never managed to break a Large Plastic Peg). The Aluminium Peg is also better in rocky ground, loose or hard, but will also work anywhere the plastic one works.

Our Peggy Pegs can be divided into the following groups; N, L, LA, HC, S.

N • Normal grounds, from hard to a little soft – with a hook 20 cm long,max torque 25Nm
L
 • Soft, sandy grounds – Peggy Long with hook 31 cm long torque max. 30 Nm
LA
 • Soft to dense grounds with stones – Peggy Long Aluminium, with hook 31 cm long torque max. 70 Nm
HC
 • Most extreme grounds – Hardcore Peggy Hit-in Screw-out Peggy Alu, with hook 15 cm long torque max. 70 Nm
• For loops and plates – Peggy Small – 12 cm long, torque max. 5 Nm

We use a Ryobi cordless drill, and keep the torque setting at 20 for the standard peg (PP02) and less for the smaller peg (PP05), due to its narrower shank.
Torque settings will be different for different makes of drill.
We recommend that you can work your way up the torque settings, until you find the peg flexing (see photo in ‘how to use’ section). You should then remove the drill, and ‘tweak’ the peg by hand – either with the handle of your PP06 Combo Tool – it has a ring spanner built in, or any other 17mm hex head tool.

The Large Plastic (and Aluminium for harder compact sand) Pegs are excellent in sandy conditions, and for the best results, scoop a handful of the really dry loose sand of the top of the beach and drill into the firmer well compacted slightly damp sub level of sand – we’ve seen people making temporary boat moorings from the large pegs.

Absolutely, check out the short video of the Peggy Peg Toyota Prado winching itself up a small ramp with just one HP61 Hardcore Peg
– check it out here-

And remember, if you’re not happy with any Peggy Peg product, just return it to us for a refund.

It is possible that the tip of the Hardcore Peg breaks off in case they hit a rock in the soil. Don't worry in this case they still work and also hold. Just hit them into the ground as you would usually do and unscrew when you are ready to go.

Definitely, the Small Peggy Peg (PP05) was predominantly designed for pegging floor matting and ground sheets, to provide a clean working surface outside your caravan and under the awning, but in certain ground conditions, it is an ideal guy rope anchor.

Questions about our Crocodile PEGGY®

The jaws of the Crocodile Peg are infinitely adjustable, simply screw out the orange cam lever to allow the jaws to open to 10mm or more, once whatever you are trying to hold is in place in the jaws, simply screw in the cam lever, to achieve a good grip when the pressure is applied.

But remember, the clip is totally plastic, and if excessive force is applied, the cam lever can be broken. Don’t screw the cam leaver until it is tight. It is the action of rolling the cam over (closing the lock) that secures the jaw is closed. If it feels like you are applying too much force to close the cam, unscrew the leaver one turn, and try again.

The Crocodile Peg is made from reinforced UV resistant plastic and has been designed with no sharp edges, the teeth of the clip are rounded, not jagged and sharp.
The reason the clips hold so well is that the jaw pressure can be adjusted to suit the material and conditions, and minimize any potential damage

Certainly, either pass a rope through the back of the clip, or use it like the blue rope clip on the pegs, by slipping a loop of rope over the rope clips. And tighten the jaws of the clip securely over the tarpaulin.
